Highlight. Contour. Blend. Finish.
We are all very familiar with the usual steps of contouring and highlighting. But do you know there are actually different types of contouring for different face shapes?
Good contouring is like a well-fitted dress; it should flatter your face shape, give you a face-lift, bring out your best features and create the illusion of an oval face naturally.

1.Long/oval shape face
Long or oval shaped faces are generally one-and-a-half times longer than the width of the face. Contouring can be use to create a more balance ratio. Create shadows at the sides of your forehead and below your cheeks to make your face look shorter and more proportional.
2.Square shape face
The temples, cheekbones and jawline are the most prominent features of a square-shaped face. Forming a straight line with equal distance from the center of the face, contouring is best used to sculpt away the extra girth at the sides of your forehead and jawline. It can also deliver roundness and softness to the appearance of your face.
3.Rectangular shape face
Similar to the square face, use the same techniques but focus the contouring at the top of the forehead to make the face shorter. Contour at the sides of the forehead to make the hairline appear more narrow and to create the appearance of a lower hairline. Construct a face that is less harsh by contouring along the bottom of the face and cheekbones.
4.Diamond shape face
When your hairline is narrower than your cheeks and your chin is slightly pointed, you have a diamond face. Diamond faces have broad cheeks, narrow forehead and narrow chin. Shade the sides of your face to soften your broad cheeks.
5.Heart shape face
Heart shape faces have cheeks that are wider than your hairline and your chin is narrow and pointed. The difference between a diamond face shape and a heart shape face is the widow’s peak; a V-shaped growth of hair towards the center of the forehead. Make your wide forehead and cheeks look smaller by contouring the temples to the cheekbones, and a little slightly at the bottom of the chin.
6.Round shape face
If the length of your face equals to the width of your face, you have a round face! Shade the sides of your face to add definition and depth by applying the product on the sides of your forehead along the temples to make the area narrow creating an illusion of an oval face.
