Remedies to Reduce Hair Loss

One of the worst feelings is when you run a comb through your hair and you find tangles in the teeth of the comb. Good news – the hair fall can be prevented or at the very least, reduce the amount of hair falling out.

Our hair is made up of a protein called keratin. Make sure you are consuming sufficient protein in your diet! The best sources of protein are milk, eggs and fish. Also, don’t forget your omega-3 fatty acids that can be found in fish like salmon and mackerel.

The hair shaft is made up largely of water, and staying hydrated is very important for tissue growth and health. Remember that “8 glasses a day” thing we learnt in primary school? If you haven’t beeen putting that in action then it’s time to start! Stop drinking carbonated/sweetened drinks and switch to water instead!

Regular exercise allows sweat to clean out and unclog your pores. Fun fact: when you are healthier, your locks will become longer and stronger as well!

The heat from the flat iron and chemicals from bleach hurts your hair. If possible, don’t dye your hair more than a shade or two away from its natural colour because that means more chemicals, which lead to a higher chance of your hair breaking. If you do regular chemical processing, treat yourself to a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week for optimal results.

Scalp massages have been found to improve circulation to the scalp, stimulating hair growth.
