The Power of Special Effects Makeup!

Have you ever wondered how people gave themselves a complete makeover to look like someone else? And no, I’m not talking about plastic surgery or heavy makeup. I’m talking about something like this:

And no, that’s not a shirt.

The world of SFX makeup is amazing, and recreated looks can range from the usual Joker and Harley Quinn (because everyone becomes them come Halloween) to a twisted take on fairytale characters like Pinnochio.

With Halloween coming up at the end of this month, we decided to try out SFX makeupe for the first time! We engaged the services of @kellwx to be our makeup artist for the day at our office:

He started off with creating a mold of an injury on our model’s hand. It may look unassuming now, but with a bit of colouring…

It starts looking more realistic now doesn’t it?

And the final product!

After the palm wound was done, he went on to create the face wound.

Again, a plaster was gently layered on to create a three-dimensional effect.

Followed by the creation of a groove that mimics the injury as well.

Adding some ‘blood’ into the well

What is a wound without proper stiches?

Aaaand the final result!

We are really loving @kellywx ‘s talent with makeup! For a look into the whole production process, you can check out the video below:

If you’re looking for an artist to book for your Halloween party, look no further – we have got the one for you 😉
